Purpose Aligned Consulting
A brand, a website, and an SEO program for a Denver nonprofit consulting firm, followed in 2026 by a ground-up rebuild that took the site off its page builder and kept every page that was earning search traffic in place.
Purpose Aligned helps nonprofits and local governments with grant writing, strategic planning, facilitation, and program development. We created their brand, built the website that brings them new clients, and handle their SEO. In September 2026 we rebuilt the whole site on a lean, hand-coded theme and launched it with every ranking page still in place.
A firm doing serious work, with a website that did not show it
Purpose Aligned had the track record, the client list, and the referrals. What they did not have was a brand and a website that reflected how they work, or a way for the right organizations to find them through search instead of word of mouth alone.
By 2026 there was a second problem. The site had grown up on a page builder, and the builder had become the heaviest thing on every page. The markup was bloated, and the service pages were too thin to compete for the searches their clients were typing. The site was also one of the firm's best sources of new business, so whatever we did next could not put those rankings at risk.
Five pieces of work that add up to one system
Brand and logo
We designed the spiral mark and wordmark, set a five color palette, and paired Poppins with Dongle for a voice that is warm without being soft. It all lives on a one page guideline the team can hand to anyone who makes something for them.
A website rebuilt by hand
We moved the site off its page builder and onto a lightweight theme with a version controlled child theme of our own. Every template, the header, and the footer are hand-coded, and no page builder assets load anywhere on the site.
SEO built on their own data
One keyword analysis, drawn from their Search Console history, set the target for every page. It also produced a preservation list of the pages and phrases already earning traffic, and those were protected through the entire rebuild.
Content with real depth
The service pages grew from roughly 700 words to 5,700, with every sentence of the original kept. Grant writing now leads the navigation, the services hub, and every service grid, because that is where the demand is.
The plumbing nobody sees
A theme native contact form, newsletter signup connected to the list they already had, a rewritten privacy statement, analytics verified end to end, and a Google Business Profile. We also host the site and look after it.
An identity that sounds like the people behind it
Consulting brands tend to look alike. Purpose Aligned works with people who run libraries, museums, parks, and city programs, so the identity needed to feel human first and corporate a distant second.
The spiral mark carries the idea of alignment. The palette runs from a soft mint to a confident blue, with a khaki and a near black to ground it. The same system now runs through every page of the website, which is the whole point of having one.
- ✓ Logo, icon, and wordmark in every format
- ✓ Five color palette with usage rules
- ✓ One page brand guidelines
Off the page builder, with every ranking page protected
Rebuilding a site that already ranks is the riskiest kind of web project, because the easiest way to lose search traffic is to launch a prettier version of the same site. So the rebuild started with the search data, and only then moved to design.
We built every page on a staging copy, checked each one logged out the way a visitor or a crawler sees it, and mapped every old address before launch. On launch day all 24 URLs in the old sitemap resolved correctly, with no dead ends. The day after, every page in the new sitemap had its own title and description, and analytics was confirmed working on the live domain.
The first design pass was too restrained, and the client told us so. We agreed, and a second pass brought the warmth of the brand back in: photo backed testimonials, full color client logos, open layouts in place of boxes, and the two numbers that matter most to their clients right in the hero.
From search data to launch day
Analyze once
One pass through their search data produced the page targets, the content queue, and the list of rankings to protect.
Build on staging
Every template was hand-coded and versioned, so each change shipped as a numbered release we could roll back.
Review with the client
A design review and a line by line copy review, with the client's changes applied and recorded before launch.
Launch behind a gate
A written checklist covering redirects, analytics, forms, and crawlability, checked on the site itself before and after go live.
What changed
Small things that make a site feel looked after
A lot of the work on a project like this never shows up in a screenshot. We read all twelve of their articles and replaced or removed nine broken links. We took out a cookie banner that was asking for consent it never applied, which also removed three stylesheets from every page. We checked the layout at every width from a small phone to a wide desktop and fixed anything that scrolled sideways.
Testimonials now sit in a swipeable spotlight that paces itself to the length of each quote, so a long one gets the time it needs. The newsletter signup appears on its own page, in the footer, and at the end of every article, all feeding the list the firm already owned.
